1st Post

I am a newbie.  I said it. I have no idea what I am doing.  I've been bitten by the cookie bug, I've never been a writer and I've never done a blog.

I decided to do this as a way to keep notes while experimenting with cookie decorating and also to journal my year.

Let me back up.

Last week I had a health scare.  Praise the Lord, I am ok, but it woke me up. I decided 2020 is the year to start being kinder to myself, letting go of commitments that stress me out and to truly embrace  the simple life I crave.

And the year to decorate cookies!

Instead of the usual drinks and food Christmas party this year, we decided to attend a cookie decorating class.  We arrived and joined a group of other lovely ladies in attendance.  There was wine, and food and laughter as our instructor explained to us all the different types of icings we would be working with.

We went into another room and the table was laden with supplies and blank cookies, for us to decorate.    The other ladies were talking and laughing at their creations and enjoying themselves immensely!

Me, I was head down, and working away!  What is this new medium?  It's thinner than oil paint but thicker than acrylics.  Look at all the pretty colors!!!  I bet if we mix this color and that color we could get......

See, I used to paint, but it has been years since I picked up a paint brush.  Now my craft time consists of knitting and spinning yarn.  Useful skills to have, and my family stays warm.  Win, win for everyone.  But cookies can be super creative and artistic.  I've missed that.

Welcome 2020!!  I am excited to see where we go together.   😁

Here is a picture of my second attempt at cookie decorating.
